Simple skincare's website says "Our Foaming Cleanser is a perfect blend of skin loving ingredients and Pro-Vitamin B5 to remove impurities and remaining traces of makeup. Your skin will feel cleansed, refreshed and moisturized. Perfect even for sensitive skin."

Real Chick's Ruling: It does make the skin feel clean and refreshed. Did not leave it moisturized as it says it does, but that's okay because I use it at night and slather on moisturizer afterwards!

I did get a few breakouts after using this product, I'm not sure whether that was from this or another product, but just wanted to give a heads up. It does leave skin feeling clean, and my guess is I broke out because my skin was like "whoa, wait a minute, there's no bad stuff in this cleanser." I will try it again once break-outs clear up to see if this was the cause.

• DOES NOT CREASE! -holy cow, that is my biggest issue with eyeshadow,I'm shocked

Loreal paris USA website says this eyeshadow  "offers expertly coordinated compacts with shades to be worn alone for simple looks or all together for complex looks. Impact guaranteed with these crease-resistant compacts that last all day."

 Real Chick's Ruling: It stands up to all of it's claims! I have hooded eyelids so it is hard to find an eyeshadow that does not crease. Usually if I find one, it will start to crease at the end of the day, but THIS, wow...it stayed put ALL-freakin'-day! And was easy to take off. 

 I highly recommend this to anyone! These quads come in 20 different shade compacts; they can all be worn or just 1 or 2. Very handy having a 4 shade selection in one. Very impressed and will be buying more shades soon!

I initially was not too sure about these colors, coppery/orange tones tend to not look that great on me, but they look SO much better when applied to the lid! 

 

~Remember, if you're dying to try out any type of makeup but not sure if you will like the color or if it is the right shade, Rite Aid and CVS have a 100% money back guarantee on all beauty items!~  

I tend to break out under the brow bone with certain shadows, and this did not break me out. I'm still shocked it didn't crease at all!

 Prestige Cosmetics Website Says this product "is designed to hold shadow in place all day, enriched with vitamin E and chamomile, glides on smoothly, and provides vibrant color all day."

Real Chick's Ruling: It does what it claims! I tried this out with an eyeshadow that creases with me and with this primer, the eyeshadow did not crease at all. Colors are able to adhere to the eyelid easier with this primer and gave a smoother canvas to work with.

I am prone to break out with new items, but this did not break me out! I was surprised because all primers I have tried in the past, have in-fact broken me out.

Loreal paris website claims this "is a hydrating formula that keeps lips soft, smooth, colorful and glossy for eight shining hours"

Real Chick's Ruling:  The only thing they got right is it is shiny! It did not make my lips soft or smooth; it was actually sticky and gritty. By the end of 6hrs there was no gloss left, just looked like I threw glitter on my lips. I may use this on top of a lipstick for a pop of shine, but I will not be wearing it by itself again. It dried my lips out significantly.

Sorry for such a close up but I wanted you to tell the difference in the glossy look and just shiny glitter by the end.

I would recommend this on top of another lipstick, also, it could just be the glittery glosses that preform like this. I know they have solid color glosses, so I will give them the test! 

It wasn't uncomfortable to wear but it was irritating, made me want to swipe my lips a couple of times with my hand.

Rimmel London Stay Matte Foundation---*Putting it to the test*

Happy Humpday! And Whoop whoop for another 'Puttin' it to the test'!

Let me start this off by saying, yes I know this foundation was too light, but I sacrificed looking like a ghost in-order to put this foundation to the test! Here are my results!

Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation

**Quick Decision Facts**

PROS:

• Little goes a long way
• Really enjoyed the mousse and not a runny liquid

CONS:

• Once it sets(oxidizes) on the face it's a different shade
• Creased into all fine lines (even seeped into lines I didn't know I had...thanks Rimmel!) ;-)
• Products will not adhere to it (blush slid right off after an hour)
• Was not very buildable, tried to layer to cover up blemishes and it just pulled more product off
• Really clung onto dry areas, making the dry skin stand out
• BROKE ME OUT

*Ruling*

Rimmel London's Website says this is "A feather light, oil free formula with an airy mousse texture that won’t feel heavy or greasy. Delivers all day shine control and blends flawlessly for a natural looking matte finish."

Real Chick's Ruling: All day shine control my butt!!! Within a few hours it was shiny! Blending took forever because you would try to blend and it would just remove the product instead of spreading it. And forget a natural finish; for me, it looked and felt cakey. 

I would not recommend this product to anyone. If you have dry skin it will just adhere to it and make it seem flaky and if you have oily skin, you're trying to get away from shine, not have something wear off in hours.

 You can tell it wore off quite a bit. Shine, redness, and bumps were showing through.

I really wanted to like this foundation, but it just wasn't in the cards for me. It broke me out while wearing it, and I am still having little breakouts from it a day later. I just felt it was not an all over good quality. Usually I give items another try a few weeks later to see if maybe that was an 'off' day, but considering I broke out so bad, I think this one will join the make-up graveyard.

AMBI Soft & Even Creamy Oil Lotion --- HOT or NOT!?

Welcome! Today is all about hydrating your body! These winter months can take a toll on your skin and dry it out. I needed something that is going to instantly take care of that dryness and continue to nourish throughout the day. And TA-DA! I got lucky and stumbled upon this!

AMBI Body Care

Soft & Even Creamy Oil Lotion

**Quick Decision Facts**

• Goes on super smooth & silky
• Consistency not too thin or too thick
• Leaves your skin feeling nourished, not greasy
• After setting, gives you a luxurious,creamy, non-sticky feel
• You're able to still feel the smoothness after 12hrs
• Does have a scent, did not bother me or my sensitive skin, but would suggest smelling in store

*Ruling*

Ambi's website says "This moisture-rich body lotion combines the intensive moisturizing benefits of an oil, in a convenient non-greasy lotion form. Its unique formula is enriched with a blend of natural ingredients – shea butter, known for its ability to soften skin and olive oil, to relieve dry skin instantly as it helps lock in moisture for a full 24 hours."

Real Chick's Ruling:  HOT!!! This may be my new favorite lotion! It really does relieve dry skin instantly, is non-greasy, not sticky, and leaves skin feeling ultra smooth and silky. Truly a luxurious feeling! I'm not sure if it actually lasts for 24 hours considering I have applied it every 12 hours since buying it yesterday, BUT you can truly still feel it after those 12 hours!

I really do think this is my new 'go to' fav! It's really hard to find a true all-day lotion! I have been on a body moisturizing kick since middle school and I have tried MANY different types but this AMBI is the only one I actually feel at the end of the day! 

I'm always trying to find that holy grail lotion that will exceed my expectations, so when I am checking out the lotion selections, I put a tiny bit on my hand to feel the quality and consistency. I usually smooth it on, then look at a few more items to let it 'set', then I determine how well it feels (is it sticky? Do I even still feel it? Did I apply straight up grease!? etc.) This product surprised the heck outta me! After scouting out all the clearance deals and grocery shopping, I could still feel the smoothness and richness of this lotion, I knew then I had to try it out!

This lotion DOES have a scent; It has not irritated my sensitive skin though. It is quite strong while applying but wears off after it's settled into the skin.  The scent, to me, is actually nice. I recommend to always smell products before purchasing!

L'oreal Paris USA.com says "Its luxurious, air-whipped soufflé texture melts onto skin for seamless, weightless color. The result is a fresh, natural, all day finish."
Real Chick's Ruling: I would say this is HOT. It lives up to it's claims! It truly is the most light-weight I've ever tried. Didn't break out my sensitive skin and was long wearing. Took a good amount to actually show up but the product itself is a great quality blush.

Revlon Colorstay and Julie G Nailpolish

Whoop Whoop, Happy Friday!!!

Heads up Thrifty Chicks!: Our local Rite Aid has a crazy amount of beauty products on clearance! I'm talking: foundation, eye shadow, lipsticks, lip gloss, nail polishes, all the good stuff AND from great name brands too(L'oreal, Maybelline, Rimmel,etc.)! My first trip I got $136 worth of makeup for a whopping 4 big ones and some change! What!? Then my second trip I got $90 worth of products for $11! A ton of stuff is under $0.99!

I scored a bunch of new polishes to try; these two included. I tried to wait as long as I could to give a true review of how these nail polishes held up, but the Revlon only lasted 4 days!
I was, however, pleasantly surprised of how great quality the Julie G polish is!

Revlon Colorstay Longwear Nail Enamel

in Stiletto 

**Quick Decision Facts**

PROS:

• Fully covers the nail with 1 coat (which is rare with black polish)
• Dries a nice glossy finish

CONS:

• A bit runny on the nail
• Slow drying
• May dry with tiny air bubbles
• After wearing 1 day it shows every little scuff and bump mark
• Lasted 4 days! started chipping in 2
• When it first chips, it then begins to flake off

*Ruling*

Revlon product description claims "Revlon ColorStay Longwear Nail Enamel instantly wraps nails in a shatter-proof shield of color." "Inspired by salon gel nails that gives 11 days of lasting color."

Real Chick's Ruling: Umm, Seriously, 11 days and a 'salon gel nail'!? Ok, Revlon marketing department, let me just hold up my half covered 4! day old chipped and flaky nails to your face while I laugh in it! This is a big 'ole fail. It would be perfect if you only wanted your nails looking great for the night or maybe a day!

 Was too embarrassed to show you what they looked like at 4 days, here's a hint, they were jacked up! But that Julie G is a BEAST! It's still on after 7 days with NO chips!

I'd say it was $0.50 well-spent! Makes me wanna go get more! =)

• Quite runny making it extremely easy to apply
• Super smooth and creamy
• Light weight--like a tinted moisturizer
• Light to medium coverage
• Build-able
• Not drying to the skin, nor felt oily once it set
• Did not 'enhance' imperfections

• Gives skin a healthy look

Loreal Paris USA.com says "Get the ultimate un-makeup look" "Revolutionary liquid transforms on contact, leaving a soft powder like finish. This foundation is so amazingly lightweight it's like wearing no makeup at all! Just shake and apply – it’s magic!"

Real Chick's Ruling: It truly feels as though you have no foundation on! Blended beautifully into the skin and did not change it's color as it set. Lasted throughout the day without any touch-ups. I would recommend this to anyone: from someone who doesn't wear a lot of make-up to someone just looking for a fresh healthy look, or even someone who is a makeup junkie looking to have something awesome in their collection!

Here is how well it covers, not so much that you have a 'cakey' look but not too less that you see every single bump and redness.

First picture is freshly cleansed face(yup, put my face on the internet without makeup on!), second is after applying one full coat then a bit more in certain areas. (also I have a little bit of blush on, because I lost patience and wanted to see how well the foundation held on to other products)

First Impression review: see how well it lasts as I go throughout my day, almost 8 full hours with it on (no touch-ups)

I also did not use a setting powder(which I would recommend for this) just to see how well the foundation held up on it's own.

It did great (in my mind, considering it wasn't set with anything), but you can tell by the almost 8 full hour mark that it lost some of it's coverage. I fully believe if you set it, this will be flawless even by the end of the day.

Here's a better look at the 8 hr difference

Got a bit of shine going on and redness is starting to peek through. But I feel it did very well considering I was running around all over the place in the cold and wind. (also a bit of TMI but I sweat a bit from my medicines and it held up through that!) For some reason I still feel it gives a healthy look, even after wearing down.

Mascara FAILS! 3 mascaras, 3 brands...3 fails!

It's time for a Battle of the Mascaras! Or really a 'who failed worse' battle, because each were fails!
I am only doing 3 so it won't be overwhelming to take in.


**Just a reminder, what works or doesn't work for me, may work for you! This is just what I experienced with these products, it may effect you differently, but wanted to give a heads up.**

First up, the not so bad(only 1 con for this mascara):

CoverGirl Clump Crusher by lashblast

Water resistant - Black

 

**Quick Decision Facts**

PROS:

• Applies smoothly
• Very build-able to the thickness you want
• Does not smudge (while applying or throughout the day)
• Does not flake
• Is truly waterproof
• Clump free
• Did not burn or irritate my sensitive eyes throughout the day

CONS: I really like this mascara, except for this one con

• When removing, it gets in your eyes. It didn't burn or anything, but I just did not like the feeling that mascara was inside my eyelids. It did not do it while wearing it though, only while removing it.
• Also, the wand is a little funky to work with, but that may be just me.

*Ruling*

CoverGirl.com says this is "A breakthrough in no-clump mascara. Get 200% more volume and zero clumps."
Real Chick's Ruling: It is clump free! I wouldn't say it's 200% more volume though. It gave some volume but nothing even slightly dramatic. I feel this is a good mascara, if you can figure out a better way to remove it than I did. It just seemed every way I chose, it ended up in my eye. But if you try, hopefully you will have better removal results.




The second mascara had quite a bit more cons than the first:

• while applying--I could not look down without it getting on my under eye/cheek until it dried-- 
• Throughout the day it would transfer onto my under eye area. It never flaked, but smudged so bad I literally looked like I had been crying for hours and mascara was smeared underneath my eye. 

So, my days wearing this was filled with constantly swiping under my eyes to remove black smudge.

Maybelline.com says this gives "COLOSSAL LASHES IN JUST ONE COAT! CREATES 9X THE VOLUME, instantly"

Real Chick's Ruling: Negative. It does not give just amazing 'colossal' lashes with just one coat! Heck it doesn't even do it with 5 coats! I did not see extreme volume. Also, like described above, this mascara had some major smudging issues! I would NOT recommend this product to anyone, unless you are looking for that "I've been crying all day, my mascara is smearing under my eyes" look then sweet darlin' go for it.

I know I explained quite a bit above, just wanted to elaborate on some of those facts. I have pretty long lower lashes and love to coat them up, but with only one coat and any movement made the mascara transferred from my lashes to my under eye/top of cheek. I seriously had to apply, wait (while looking up) for it to dry, then put on another coat and repeat the process. It took FOREVER! I've never had to wait for a mascara to dry like that! Then was totally pissed when I spent all that time putting it on, only to find out 30 minutes later it was smudging under the eye!!! The first time I tried it out I happened to be doing some shopping that day and every time I passed a store mirror I checked to see how the mascara was doing...and every time I had to swipe the smudges off! It looked like I had slept in my mascara. Not a fan!

Now to the worse(for me):

**Quick Decision Facts**

PROS:

• Easy to apply
• Gives some length

CONS:

• It never dried for me
• The worst thing while wearing this was it came off IN MY EYE!!! Seriously, the white part of my eye was filled with black mascara, it was horrible!
• Not only did it get in my eye but it also got everywhere else: my eyelids, under eye etc.
• While in my eye it became stringy and was so hard to get it all out (it was under the top lid, wayyy in the back)

Needless to say, my ruling is not good! This is the type of product I want to stand by at a store and warn everyone what it could possibly do to you. It may not happen to you, but honestly I wouldn't even try it out. 

I watch You Tuber, Tati - Glam Life Guru, who swears the green one is her holy grail of drugstore mascaras, 100% natural origin jumbo lash, but honestly, having had such a bad experience with this one, I am going to wait awhile before I try another mascara from Physicians Formula!

So there's three out of my collection of failed mascaras! I hope this helped you out with trying to decide which mascara you may like. It is a bit overwhelming with all the choices and if you can eliminate a few it really helps!

Today we talk about those pesky little boogers that come at the most inappropriate time and are just never welcome: Zits.

Yep, it's gross, embarrassing and nobody likes to talk about them, but everyone gets them at some point in-time. Suck it up Buttercup! =D That's the beauty of being human; WE'RE NOT PERFECT! It is always nice to have a way to diminish the swelling 'dome' on your face. Which, in your mind comes with an arrow pointing straight at it. I decided to give this stuff a shot!

The Box says it "diminishes the blemish in 10 minutes"

Real Chick's Ruling: I wouldn't go that far. I have to say though, an hour after applying I did notice it smaller! It has worked very well for me, and this is coming from someone who has very sensitive (diva) skin! I made sure after I applied and it dried, that I put a bit of moisturizer on it so that area wouldn't dry out and peel. I think it's worth a try, check for coupons and your drugstores for deals to make this product even sweeter!


Warning, this is gross, I know, but I wanted to show you the results after just one day! I took the first picture before applying the treatment, and the second is the very next night after having applied it the night before and again the following morning.

It may not seem like a huge difference, but believe me, from the side you could tell it was all swollen and gross. Now, it's flat and smoothed over! I'm still left with a little redness, but I can deal with that any day compared to trying to hide a knot on my forehead!

2 for 1 Special! A not planned First Impressions Review--Wet N Wild Blush--Revlon Bold Lacquer Mascara

Hey Ya'll! I was really excited about testing out some of my new products, that I did two at the same time, sooo, figured I would do their review together as well. Hope this helps if you are looking for a good quality blush and/or mascara!

Yesterday was full of errands. I just wanted a natural(ish) look but enough cover up so I don't  look like night of the living dead and start scaring small children! =D I applied all of my makeup around 8:30AM and the picture was taken probably around 9:45 PM, going through the day without touch ups. I ran errands (bank,gas,grocery, etc.) came home, walked the dog, went out for a Valentine's Eve dinner, walked around a store then chilled before bed. 

This is how the blush and mascara held up through a 13 hr day(crrrap, I forgot to take a before picture, but I was just so excited when I got home that night, I really wasn't planning to do a 'first impressions' type review, oh well, you can still see the color,lol)

Excuse the dark circles and imperfections...like I said, I just put on some tinted moisturizer, didn't conceal.

Wet N Wild Color Icon Blusher in Pearlescent Pink

 I was amazed at how well the color stayed!!! Seriously, I never have luck with drugstore blushes staying on (my medicines cause me to sweat so I find most blushes slide off or fade after a few hours). I wore Merle Norman's lasting cheekcolor for years, and it really is lasting! BUT it is also, I believe, around $26! Hmmm, let's see...$26 VS. $2.99!? Yep, no brain-er! 

• It is extremely pigmented, so a little goes a long way. 
• It stayed where I applied it
• Dermatologist tested, won't clog pores(also, doesn't enhance the look of pores) 
• Very build-able and blend-able
• Goes on smooth, not chalky or too drying

Very very pleased with this product, if you are looking for a long-lasting blush, this is the way to go!
**You can usually find amazing Wet N Wild deals in the drugstores (buy1 get 1 50% off, buy 1 get 1 free, plus earn reward dollars or points) I will check Sunday's paper to see if there are any deals, then edit them into this post!

Revlon Bold Lacquer Mascara

 Lately I have been on a mission to find a great mascara...for YEARS I was wearing Merle Norman's Lash Lift waterproof Mascara, but not only did they change their formula, it was also $14!!! It did last me a long time, so I got my moneys worth, but still, that's pricey. Anyways, I have extremely sensitive eyes and that was the only thing that didn't irritate them...until they changed the formula. So I went on the hunt for the best mascara for my eyes...let me tell you, there are some doosies(I'll be doing FAIL reviews for them later)!

As you can see, it didn't flake or smudge throughout the day(I didn't wipe under my eyes at any point) and it didn't give you that black 'goo' in the corner of your eye like some do.

I initially wanted the waterproof kind, because I thought it wouldn't irritate my eyes as bad, but they were out and I was desperate,lol. So I chose the regular, and I must say, I am impressed! 

• It went on incredibly well! I love full lashes and I didn't have to stand there forever trying to get it to build to get that consistency 
• It didn't smudge (when applying or throughout the day)
• It didn't flake! 
• Separated and lengthened the lashes
• Didn't clump
• LOVED the brush on it
• Came off extremely easy (and didn't get in eye while removing, yep one fail mascara left me crying black)
• Stayed curled all day! What!? That never happens with my lashes!
• I did not have ANY eye irritation from this formula!!!! Never once were they itchy or watery, and did not bother my contacts at all

Just showing how easy it is to take off, being that I used waterproof for years, this excited me! lol (I use a Yes To Cucumber wipe to remove all makeup before cleansing, review for those coming soon)
